Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring?

Players must come with adequate equipment to cope with the likely weather conditions. This includes hats, gloves, waterproof top and tracksuit bottoms, they will not enjoy their rugby, may get injured and may be put off the game if they are inadequately prepared for the cold and wet winter days. We sell mouthguards for the players - it is strongly recommended that all players wear one.

We also sell replica playing tops and team shorts and socks in the club.

Does it cost me anything?

Our Membership year runs from 1st September - 31st August - with the renewal date on 1st September each year.
.

Membership Renewal
Once your child joins Lochaber RFC, their membership is renewed annually.
Renewal fees are due on 1st September, and parents/guardians will receive an email reminder when payment is required. We will also post announcements on our website and across our social media groups and pages.

For insurance purposes, all children must be registered with the club. A registration form must be completed with essential information such as emergency contacts and any relevant health issues.

It is mandatory that all players are registered on the SRU Player Registration System - called SCRUMS. See link below

After training, children may buy drinks from the bar area in the clubhouse.

Severe Weather
From time to time, weather may dictate whether we train or not. In the event of severe cold or wet weather, we request that parents speak to a coach before leaving their child at the clubhouse. We have a 'Parents & Carers' Facebook page and recommend that you join that to keep up to date with any changes to planned matches, trips or training. Here is the link:

Injuries
We hope all players stay safe, but if an injury occurs:
First aid will be given on site.
Parents/carers will be informed immediately.
If hospital treatment is required, appropriate arrangements will be made.
If a parent/carer cannot be reached, a club representative will accompany the child and ensure the parent/carer is contacted as soon as possible.

Games (Home & Away)
Throughout the season, we play friendly matches against teams across the Highlands and Argyll. As our Youth Section grows, we increasingly rely on the support of parents/guardians to help with transport to away fixtures.

We hope you’ll be willing to assist with lifts when needed. When travelling in the club minibus, there may be a small contribution towards fuel costs.
