Mid Argyll Under 14 Tournament

Lochaber U14s travelled to Lochgilphead on Sunday 3rd March and played 10 a side against Oban, Mid Argyll, and Islay.

They won two out of three games, with Mid Argyll being the stand-out team of the tournament. Individual profiles of the Lochaber boys are as follows:-

Rainers – never gave up in both attack and defence, a safe pair of hands and a quiet but reasonably effective team leader.

J J – improved at hooker as the tournament went on, and in the last game gave two great try-scoring passes while filling in at midfield.

Stewart – good scrum half passing, and not afraid to make breaks against bigger opponents when opportunities arose.

Zach - played very intelligently at flyhalf, good ball distribution and some try-saving tackles.

Ronnie – hard and tough, perfect foil to the smaller halves Stewart and Zack, made a lot of ground with the ball in hand and always at the centre of the defensive effort.

Ryan – filled the unfamiliar left wing position, had a lot of work to do due to the pitch’s cross fall and the natural tendency of the play to gravitate towards him, improved as the tournament went on.

The effort the boys made to get to the tournament and to put in such good displays against worthwhile opposition was great to see, and is much appreciated.
