As the U14s have good numbers this season and are approaching their first set of tournaments, it’s time to name the captain and vice-captain. An announcement was made at training on Saturday 12 October, and that information is repeated below for others who couldn’t make it.

Vice – Captain is Zach Alexander, and the following points are relevant to his selection:-
· Has been involved at the club since P3, and is well-known at Banavie;
· Has previously won awards & been captain;
· Is a fit and talented player in both attack and defence;
· Role will be a doddle for him, and so will allow him space to develop his own playmaker skills;
· Could turn out to be the club’s equivalent of Finn Russell.

Captain is Ruairidh Fothergill, and the following points are relevant to his selection:-.
· Has been involved at the club since P3;
· Has quietly developed his own game on the wing, but is now part of the back row;
· Is an intelligent, competent and safe player, doesn’t make many mistakes;
· Part of a strong Knoydart / Mallaig / Acharacle contingent which make such an important contribution to this particular age group;
· Is considered well capable of shouldering more responsibility, and of stepping up to the captain’s role.

The coaching team is confident that Ruairidh and Zach will undertake their respective roles well, and offers its congratulations to both.
