Posted by The not so silent majority on 02 June 2009 Ah its good to see why I should have left this "club" much sooner. This is the rugby club I would have done anything for (and did) but then we have the "silent majority" as you are called posting a note, but again not willing to out a name to their bitchieness!!!! I really don't know why I bothered looking at your web site, but then I allways felt it was a club full of great people but also a "small minority" of bad people (and I am sure you know who you are?? Try adding your name next time please. Anyway I would like to think I still have people there who think I was a decent rugby player. At least in other rugby clubs I have since gone to accepted me 100% as a person and player. Thanks for your message, Robbie Cameron (my real name). Posted by Robbie on 05 June 2009 robbie its nice to know that in an ever changing world some things remain constant.your not as good as you think you are.you couldn,t tackel couldn,t kick and wouldn,t pass.you were an average rugby player nothing more nothing less remember in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king Posted by the dunbeag kid on 12 June 2009 Hi there, Thank you for your message, as per usual unable to put a name but called the "silent Majority" thank goodness it is a "minority"!!!. If you have a comment mrs, put your name and I can accept this. People like us who are no longer in Lochaber like to keep in touch with the club we gave a lot to (and also got a lot back from), but do not require these nasty message's from women like you. I hope this will be printed, while I don't want to use this as a "slagging page", I feel that your message was printed and so should this. All I was doing was keeping in touch with guys I played most of my rugby with. Thanks to the"majority" Robbie. Posted by Robbie on 15 June 2009 OK YOU TWO THAT'S ENOUGH!!(whoever the Dunbeag Kid is)I will not be publishing anymore of your messages on this subject. Posted by Pauline (Website Administrator) on 15 June 2009 Thank you Pauline, let me appologise to you and the club for letting myself get pulled into a stupid slagging match. Being away from Lochaber this is the only means off keeping in touch with "my club", and I wish I had never got involved. Keep all the good work going, I hope this great club will rise again and keep the name "Lochaber Rugby Club" on everyones lips in rugby in Scotland (and afar). Robbie. Posted by Robbie on 19 June 2009 Best XV Its great to see some other "best XV's" and god I make them all incuding the "dirt baggers" which I had the honour of captaining for 5 years, even although I continued playing 1st XV during most of these years. I never had the honour of captaining the 1st XV (politics!!!), but I had the great honour of captaining Abu Dhabi in my 2nd year out hear in 2001 when we won the league. which they did in 2003 and again this year 2009. It would still be good to see other choice's for the "best Lochaber XV" so come on guys, Fino, Robin (how did you make the bench in Pads team??) and all you other "lochaber men!! Good to see some of you although briefly at the club on the day of your 7's, unfortunatley I thought I should attend my daughters wedding rather than stsy at the club. Robbie. Posted by Robbie on 29 May 2009 Thank You Please pass on our thanks to your committee, players and volunteers following a successful Sevens Tournament at the weekend. Our group had a most enjoyable weekend and felt quite at home particularly in the company of your own members and the visiting party from Quintin RFC. Please also pass on our thanks to your club medic who helped with a couple of our players, one of whom is still receiving attention at Belford Hospital. Thanks once again, Roy Weller For & on behalf of Biggar RFC Posted by Biggar RFC on 06 May 2009 Thanks for the memories - and the hang over! On behalf of everyone from Hamilton Rugby Club I would like to thank you all for the very generous hospitality shown to everyone who travelled up on Saturday. Please ensure our thanks are passed on to the ladies in the kitchen who provided us all with a lovely post match meal and your bar staff for the hang over from hell. We also enjoyed being introduced to some real rugby culture by being introduced to a civilised game of draughts after our meal rather than the usual drunken carry on we are subjected to at so many other clubs!! I have yet to convince my wife that we played draughts after our meal. Your youth team show great potential and we would be delighted to welcome them and your senior team to Hamilton some time in the near future. The weather made playing conditions very difficult and the kids all done well to stay on the pitch and compete when it would have been much easier for them to head for the club house. Posted by Pads on 14 January 2009 How dare you leave me on the bench Posted by The Eternal No 7 on 24 January 2009 Best Lochaber XV It has taken me 3 months to look at the web site again to check out the "best team" tag. Well I agree with Ally, Fino looks good for the positions off 1,2 & 3 as they are about his pace. But after that no chance, he would never get to the 15 position as that require good looks, panache (where did that come from), speed, ability, and you only have to look at Ally and myself to confirm this, so sorry Fino. I am glad to see you have 2 replacements for the front row, but nodge would be so pissed off to have such a good looking guy with him on the bench??. Anyway I see no one else is taking up the challange on the best team front, so I will try. 1. Nodge (He's my mate!!) 2. Fred Fudge. (none of you will remember Gary Page, so Fred gets the No 2 spot) 3. Kenny Kennedy. 4. John Strachan (had to put him in) 5. Glen Graham (again as above, even out of position) 6. Robin Morgan (great player in the neil back mould) 7.Gordon Clelland (if you could keep him from getting hurt) 8. Yes Fino (and I am biased) Now for the easy part the "girls". 9. Kenny Gordon (untouchable) 10. Gary Hendrie (or now called little fat gary!!) 11. David Kinnear. 12. Malcie Cameron. 13. Charlie Donaldson (these guys were the best and made my job so much easier) 14. Knowlesy. 15. Now this is difficult, so I will say Robbie/Ally. Guys so close but at least made the bench!! 16. Gibby (he never gave up) 17. Donnie door buster. 18. Ronnie Kelly. 19. Frank Kennedy (great speed, strength) 20. George the dart. Other names in the frame that never made the "big team"- Neil Nicolson (or Nix to everyone),George,Duncan Simpson, Kenny Turnbull (one of the best of the "new generation"),Ron "I'm your man" Cameron, Lewis Maclean (if only you could keep him out of jail). Some of you will see I have missed out Graham MacNab and his little friend, well Graham was a superb player, but I have picked a "Lochaber team" so he doesn't make it. Posted by LORRAINE HUNTER on 11 November 2008 Best XV Whilst i agree with many of the selections made by Fino, I must disagree with one. Posted by Robbie Cameron on 05 January 2009 Best Team to play This is a real boring site!!! So I am putting a "challange", well sort off. Try and name your best XV to have played for Lochaber, you can pick from anyone who has played for the club over the years. I will put my selection on over the next few days!! Posted by Robbie Cameron on 20 October 2008 The Club!! I have just read the last game report, checking out the names I didn't recognise any until hey "Gary Hendrie", "Dale Monk" and I couldn't see "Robin Morgan" in there. My god how on earth is Gary stil playing,he must be the same age as me (early 40), Dale, well yes still a young man (well by my standards), but more important I want to know Why Robin Morgan wasn't in the team, he must have been injured/unavailable coz he could never have been dropped!!! And I never saw a MacFarlane on the team sheet, are they banned??? Keep going lads, you will improve and get better and better, but more important keep the wonderful Lochaber RFC hospitality going. If any of the guys are possibly coming to the Dubai 7's in November please let me know as I will be there with my team,as I now live out here. Posted by Iain on 13 May 2008 Quintin What a load of Tosh by everyone, I hated every minute of the week end especially the breakfasts and the late opening bars, it was clearly a cunning plan to get us fat and drunk to allow the other teams a chance against our highly tuned athletes, By the way it worked !!!!!! I have no idea why I keep coming back, I suppose the 11 hour journey has something to do with it, and I just love you all, especially the little tykes who gave us such a great lesson in how to be proud and honoured to play for such a fantastic club, even if Gary referees. As a line from a film once said, Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life........... but it certainly helps. Cant wait for next year when, WE SHALL RETURN. Jon Adcock Posted by Jon Adcock on 07 May 2008 And another thank you from Quintin! By way of this reply I would like to add my bit: Many thanks for the 'oldest player' award. Had I been there to receive it (rather than in the shower), I would have stated that the award should have gone to the youngest player - I think that the Lochaber colts were brilliant, and so brave in the contest with the army (and their professional team). Their commitment and tenacity was commendable and must make all members of Lochaber RFC feel very proud! Gordon ASHBURY President Quintin RFC Posted by Pauline on 06 May 2008 A thank you e-mail from Quintin This email is a feeble attempt to convey our gratitude for your club's hospitality over the weekend. We had a marvellous time throughout. Special thanks must go to Stewart and Stevie, for accepting our approaches to attend the competition…….Gary, for his bar services way into the night and his amateur approach to stealing The Hogg…….Pauline, for her valiant dance coaching…..Ron Cameron, for doing our breakfasts……Skimpy's sister for doing the tea every morning…Martin D for playing for us….Ally Donaldson for playing for us and his projectile vomiting on completion of his task…..The young lady who sang that special gaelic song that had us all in tears…..and all of your people that drank and sang with us! All of the team hope that this has rekindled the relationship between Lochaber RFC and Quintin RFC and that further visits can be arranged by both sides…..for many years to come... It should go without saying that any members of your club would be welcomed with open arms at our club….at any time... Cheers, Tim….
